He then became the Executive Director of the Investigation Division of the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). While there he had oversaw more than 300 preliminary investigations and 50 major investigations.
Mick has (in the course of his career in the South Australia Police, ICAC and his own company) been directly involved in over 3000 investigations either as the manager or investigator.
He has a variety of tertiary qualifications in business (BBus, MBA) and a Masters’ Degree in International Law & International Relations, along with a Law Degree (with Honours).
Mick is admitted to practice law in NSW and SA. He is also a graduate of the International Anti-Corruption Academy in Austria where he specialised in preventing corruption within the procurement process.
Mick formed Anti-Corruption Consultants Australia (ACCA) in 2011. In the course of his consultancies he has reviewed projects with APEC and the United Nations in relation to corruption and investigation of misconduct and mismanagement. In addition, he has worked in Serbia, Hong Kong, Bhutan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Indonesia in the Anti-Corruption areas. Mick also conducts specialist corruption related courses with the Australian National University.
He has also been involved in investigating breaches of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act involving major international firms. Mick is retained as a Corporate Investigator with Fulcrum Chambers, a leading British law firm specialising in corruption and white collar crimes.
Mick has internationally recognized qualifications as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CPE), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional – International (CCEP –I) and a member of the Council of International Investigators (CII). He is also an accredited mediator and arbitrator.
