Amanda has 18 years’ experience as a solicitor, 10 of which she spent working in the Employment Law Practice Group of the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office. In that role, Amanda advised and represented public sector clients in various jurisdictions on a range of employment and industrial relations issues. Amanda specialised in the areas of employee misconduct and professional discipline.

More recently she has conducted investigations involving bullying and harassment and provided HR advice to public and private sector clients in relation to performance management, workplace grievances and terminations. She is also experienced in negotiating and interpreting industrial instruments and advising on statutory interpretation and the application of workplace policies.

Amanda is a skilled presenter and trainer, having conducted seminars and workshops on a wide range of legal and workplace relations issues. Amanda communicates effectively and deals professionally with highly sensitive and complex maters. She takes a pragmatic and results focused approach to all matters utilising alternative dispute resolution where appropriate in order to achieve an advantageous and cost effective outcome.

Amanda was involved in the investigation of systemic theft and other misconduct during night shifts by security personnel at a public institution. As a result of the investigation 3 employees were dismissed and a fourth was demoted. Improvements in stock control and supervision arrangements were recommended.
Amanda investigated allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation by three employees against a male colleague who worked in close proximity for an electrical wholesaling business. The investigation required extreme sensitivity to be exercised as the young female employees were highly distressed and the alleged harasser was reported to be suicidal.
